Playworker Qualifications

Hello,

I am a part time Assistant Detached Playworker and I was wondering if you could possibly help me.

I have a question concerning the qualifications a playworker needs. I have been told by my employers that as much as I do not need qualifications to start my job, it is a legal requirement to work towards and gain a Cache Level 2 Diploma in playwork. I have already completed units 1 and 2 which would qualify for a Cache level 2 Award but am finding it very hard to continue with the rest of the course as the amount of outside hours study exceeds what I can tolerate, especially with 2 other part time jobs and family life.

I was initially told when I went for the interview that the level 2 course that I was required to do was 13 weeks, as was stated on the advert for the job but the goal posts have apparrently been moved after I had started and now I am being pressured into completing a 12 month diploma course. It states on this website that you do not legally need any qualifications at all and I just wanted to check if this information is correct and up to date and relevant to detached playworkers, as I cannot find this information anywhere else and it would really help me dedal with my situation.

Thanks
